Moyle Interconnector

Denton Wilde Sapte was commissioned to provide legal advice for this project which saw submarine cables with 500MW capacity link Northern Irish and Scottish grids.

East West Interconnector (now Eirgrid)

Denton Wilde Sapte was commissioned by the Commission for Energy Regulation to provide legal advice for the construction of this 500MW East West Interconnector.

Restructuring of Northern Ireland Electricity

Denton Wilde Sapte advised OFREG and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment on the restructuring of the Northern Ireland electricity supply industry to implement the IME Directive and introduce retail competition, and continue to advise OFREG.

Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC)

Denton Wilde Sapte wrote and continues to advise Elexon on the BSC, the document which sets out the Great British rules for balancing and settling power.

Airtricity

Denton Wilde Sapte was commissioned to advise on procurement issues arising out of instruction on a number of onshore and offshore wind farm projects in Great Britain.

Grid Trade Master Agreement (GTMA)

Denton Wilde Sapte wrote the latest version of the GTMA, which forms the legal basis for buying and selling of power in Great Britain.

Renewables Obligation Certificate (“ROC”) Trade Master Agreement (RTMA)

Denton Wilde Sapte wrote the RTMA, which has been generally accepted as the industry standard contractual format for the trading of Renewables Obligation Certificates in the UK. Denton Wilde Sapte has also played a leading role in advising on the contractual basis for trading other, equally complex green certificates, such as Climate Change Levy Exemption Certificates and Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin.
